The Frenzy Continues

After the usual breakfast at Bette's, we somehow ended up in the shops.  First Big Winds, then Sail Works.  You know something is going to happen when you see the two big vans in front of Big Winds - kind of takes over the parking lot.

The Big Van's at Big Winds
Blaine laughs at Big Jim's major purchase - a fin screw....
Harold showing off his Super Freak - and trying to find a sail cap.

Steve talking Rene and Kent into buying a kite.

Big Air Jim checking out the action at Sailworks

Harold got his mast cap.
I think we got away without too many major purchases - except Rene demo'd a board, but he says he won't buy until fall when the prices are low, and  I accidentally purchased a carbon boom from Sailworks.  (Sorry Louise).  I pick it up Thursday...

The call was for light wind at the Hatchery.  We took over the site and all sailed on big boards.  Most were on 5.6's, Big Jim and I were on larger sails.  The wind was up and down, but we planed most of the time, but sometimes had to wait around a bit for the gust.  Lots of time on the water - and a nice - low stress day.  Andreas and Ross Kited and came up to play in the waves with us at the Hatchery.

It was Allan's turn to get flushed - He came in tired, but I had just got my camera out, so I convinced him to go back out so I could get some shots....  His story is that he headed over to Kodiak Point so I could photograph him with all the experts.  Kent and I started looking for him an hour later, and found him with his gear out of the water at the point.  The current is stronger than you think, when you get a lull and are under-powered......

Relaxed Sailing at the Hatchery.

Handre pulled off 6 Jibes!
Handre had a great day, completing 6 jibes.  Very stoked.  Here is video evidence of one that I caught on video.
A very large Barge....Takes up most of the river.

Ross had an adventure when he broke the hook off his harness, and had to be pulled back to shore by Andreas.  The funny thing is that he was giving Andreas a heard time, because Andreas had broken his hook the day before - so Ross blamed it on Andreas's weight.  Now today, what is Ross's excuse.  I don't think he is very heavy.....

Don't you love how kite gear packs up into a nice bundle.

Andreas - describing how he broke the hook off his Harness.
Cam had a great day - here he is replenishing his potassium!
Blaine - showing off his GUNS

Blaine - Relaxing after a long day.

Handre - re-living his 6 completed Jibes!!
You can see it again here.

Nothing like a cold one to mend sore hands.

Big Jim - Exhausted after a long day!
Waiting for everyone to head down for Pizza to re-fuel.
Karen enjoyed her second Kiting lesson, and Lazelle is looking forward to her lesson today.
