Friday - June 14

Day Two (for those of us who got here early)

The forecast was a bit iffy, so the gang were a bit slow to get going.  Breakfast at Bettes to start.  (they now have a pass code on their wifi  - BettesWifi2013 ...

Then - the shopping frenzy began.....The guys at Sailworks must love us.  Starting with Big Jim, most of the guys (not me Louise!)  headed to visit with Dale, Jim and Bruce.  Of course they know everyone by their first name.

Big Jim bought a boom, and a 6.6 Hucker, Brad bought a new 5.6 Hucker, Alan bought one sale and is demo-ing another.  We also heard that later in the day, Handre bought a new 94 litre Kode.
I figure it was at least a $4,000 contribution to the local economy.   Good start!

The Wind was to be light, but strongest in the corridor.  We headed to the Hatchery.  After a lot of procrastination, I headed out on my 7.0 (call me wind dummy).  I was a bit over powered, so the others went out on 4.8 (Kent), 5.6 Blaine, Brad and Mike, and 6.3 Big Jim.

John had a much better day today - and had a great two hour session at the Event Site.

Al on one of his new sails...

Of course, wherever there is wind, we run into our friend Mike P.
Karen and Ross arrived late in the day - after an adventure with a flat tire.  Long story short, and a fancy car like Ross's Audi Q5 - you can't just buy a tire off the rack.  They were stranded for the night in Ritzville, then had to wait for the tire shop to open, then limped into Pasco, where they had to buy four new tires - (not allowed to have one new tire mixed with three partly worn tires on a vehicle with constant all wheel drive).  In spite of all this, they arrived in good spirits, and Ross was kiting at the sand bar late afternoon.

Handre and Lazelle also arrived during the day, but didn't get sailing, and Jim, Harold, and Cam arrived late (11:00pm).  The Gang is now almost all here.  We are still hoping that Harold W will be able to make it.

- I guess the new 6.6 Hucker is working!!!
